Sakke Yrjölä

Finnish Illustrator and sketchbook artist (Born 1972). Third generation artist Sakke Yrjölä got his first sketchbook at the age of 3. His grand father teached him with traditinal technigues, while his father gave him felt markers and ball pens and couraged him to draw freehand. Unorthodox play and combination of traditional materials and new "cool" stuff gives him inspiration. This endless play of material exploration motivates him the most. He’s been teaching freehand drawing at the University of Art and Design Helsinki since 1999. He introduced the sketchbook method to freehand drawing studies. 2007 he released a book called The Skechbook with his students. It was nominated for the most beautiful book of the year in Finland.
